Al Edirisinghe

Renowned for his poignant storytelling, Al Edirisinghe was born in 1942 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was most active in the filmmaking industry between the late 1970s through the early 2000s, mainly specializing in romance and drama genres, with his most celebrated films being "Sarungalaya" and "Ran Kewita." Despite not securing awards at major film festivals, his works were appreciated and recognized regionally for their unique portrayal of human relationships and emotions. Al Edirisinghe, known not only for his films but also for his warm and genuine character, left a lasting impression on the Sri Lankan film industry.
