Alexander Mackendrick

An essential figure of British and American cinema, Alexander Mackendrick was born in 1912 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA but he grew up in Scotland. Active from the mid-40s to the early 60s, he excelled in the genres of comedy, drama, and film noir, with his most famous films including "The Ladykillers", "Sweet Smell of Success", and "The Man in the White Suit", the latter of which earned him a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best British Screenplay.
