Master of Sri Lankan cinema, Asoka Handagama was born in the year 1960, in the city of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. He has been active in the film industry from 1989 to the present day, primarily focusing on the genres of drama, war, and romance, with his most renowned films including "This is My Moon" and "Flying with One Wing", the latter of which won the NETPAC Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.
