Born in 1974 in Wellington, New Zealand, Christian Rivers began his career in the film industry in the early 1990s. Working predominantly in the genres of fantasy and science fiction, Rivers is best known for his directorial debut, "Mortal Engines," and his extensive work as a storyboard artist and visual effects designer for Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Achievement in Visual Effects.
