Davy Chou

Davy Chou

Davy Chou, the mastermind behind contemporary Cambodian cinema, was born in 1983 in Paris, France. Active since 2009, Chou is known for his documentary and drama films, notably "Golden Slumbers" and "Diamond Island," the latter of which won the SACD Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. His unique authorial style often explores the impact of Cambodia's past on its present, with a particular emphasis on the lost golden age of Cambodian cinema.

From a personal perspective, Davy Chou is an artist who passionately excavates the ghosts of the past to give voice to the silenced narratives of his homeland.
