A master storyteller from Eastern Europe, Emanuel Pârvu was born in 1971 in Bucharest, Romania, and embarked on his active filmmaking career in the late 1990s. Primarily directing in the genres of drama and thriller, Pârvu has earned recognition for his works such as "Meda or The Not So Bright Side of Things" which won him the Best Director award at the Sarajevo Film Festival. His authorial style is characterized by the raw, poignant portrayal of human emotions, often set against the harsh realities of Romanian society.
