"Master of Korean Cinema," Im Kwon-taek, was born in 1936 in Jangseong, South Korea, and has been actively contributing to the film industry since 1962. Known for his deep exploration of Korean history and culture through his films, his works span a variety of genres, although he has a particular affinity for drama and historical epics - with notable masterpieces like "Chunhyang" and "Seopyeonje". His compelling narratives and unique directorial style have earned him numerous accolades, including the Best Director Award at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival for "Chihwaseon".
