Julian Józef Antonisz
Renowned as a pioneer of Polish experimental and animation cinema, Julian Józef Antonisz was born in 1941 in Nowy Sącz, Poland. Active from 1967 until his death in 1987, Antonisz ventured mainly in the genres of animation, experimental, and documentary films, with his most famous works including "How a Sausage Dog Works" and "The Sinking of the Sozopol." Despite not securing major film festival awards, his unique authorial style of non-camera films where he drew directly on film stock was highly recognized and lauded. As an ardent innovator, Antonisz pushed the boundaries of animation, fearlessly exploring the interplay between sight, sound, and texture in a way that still reverberates through the industry today.
