Katsuhisa Yamada
Master of Japanese visual storytelling, Katsuhisa Yamada was born in 1957 in Osaka, Japan. He made his mark in the film industry from the late 1980s onwards, specializing in animated and fantasy genres, with his most famous works including the acclaimed 'Rurouni Kenshin' series. Despite not having received any major film festival awards, his unique style of blending traditional Japanese storytelling with modern animation techniques has made him a beloved figure in the industry. Yamada-san, with his humble origins and enduring passion for animation, continues to inspire a generation of animators and filmmakers in Japan and beyond.
