He was most active in the film industry between 1980 and 2000, primarily working within the genres of drama and historical fiction, with his most notable films being "The Wall of Memories" and "Beneath the Cherry Blossoms" which achieved critical acclaim but unfortunately did not secure any major film festival awards. Chang's authorial style is characterized by his delicate portrayal of human emotions, combined with a profound, often poignant, exploration of China's rich history and culture.
