Midi Z

Midi Z

Taiwan’s voice of the marginalized, Midi Z, was born in 1982 in Lashio, Burma (now Myanmar). Active since 2011, he primarily works in the realms of drama and documentary, with his most notable films including "Ice Poison" (2014), "The Road to Mandalay" (2016), and "Nina Wu" (2019), the latter of which earned him a nomination at the Cannes Film Festival. Z's authorial style is marked by his raw, unflinching portrayal of the socio-political landscape of his homeland, often highlighting the plight of the less fortunate.

From an empathetic lens, Midi Z is not just a filmmaker, but a compassionate storyteller who bravely sheds light on the often overlooked narratives of his native land.
