Milcho
Master of cinematic realism from the Balkans, Milcho Manchevski was born in 1959 in Skopje, North Macedonia. Active in the film industry since 1985, he is best known for his work in drama and historical genres, with his most famous films including "Before the Rain" (1994) and "Dust" (2001), the former of which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. His authorial style is often characterized by its exploration of ethnic tensions, nonlinear narrative structure, and poignant, emotionally-charged storytelling.
From behind his camera, Milcho has not merely made films, but he has composed visual poetry that paints a vivid, unflinching portrayal of his homeland's turbulent history.
