Orhan Aksoy

Orhan Aksoy, a master of Turkish cinema, was born in 1931 in Istanbul, Turkey and started directing films in the early 1960s. His directing career spanned over four decades and his works, primarily in the comedy and drama genres, included some of the most iconic Turkish films like "Köyden İndim Şehire" and "Gülen Gözler". Despite the lack of major international awards, his films were immensely popular in Turkey, and his distinctive style of blending humor with social commentary marked him as a unique voice in Turkish cinema. Orhan Aksoy, with his keen eye for storytelling and his uncanny ability to extract raw emotions from his actors, will forever remain an integral part of the golden era of Turkish cinema.
