Paul Grimault

Dubbed as one of the pioneers of French animation, Paul Grimault was born in 1905 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. Active from the 1930s through to the 1980s, he primarily worked within the genres of animation and fantasy, with his most celebrated films including "Le Roi et l'oiseau" and "La Bergère et Le Ramoneur," which earned him high prestige, including awards at the Venice Film Festival and the Annecy International Animated Film Festival. His authorial style is often characterized by a unique blend of poetic realism and surrealism, with a strong emphasis on political and social commentary.
