Raul Gasteazoro

Raul Gasteazoro

Championing the spirit of Nicaragua, Raul Gasteazoro was born in Managua, Nicaragua in 1958 and actively contributed to the world of film from 1986 to 2012. Gasteazoro primarily worked in the genres of documentary and drama, his most famous films include "The Land of Sandino" and "The Death of a Dream," both of which are poignant narratives of his homeland. Unfortunately, Gasteazoro's body of work has been overlooked in major film festival awards, but his authorial style is characterised by his honest, raw portrayal of social issues and political struggles in Nicaragua. Gasteazoro was not just a man with a camera, he was a storyteller, capturing the heart and soul of Nicaragua and its people with every frame he shot.
