Renowned for his prowess in the Pink Film genre, Shōgorō Nishimura was born in 1930, in Kyoto, Japan. He was active in the film industry from the mid-1950s until the early 2000s, dabbling predominantly in the genres of drama and romance, with his most well-known works being "A Woman Called Sada Abe" and "Apartment Wife: Affair In the Afternoon". Although his films weren't recipients of major international awards, Nishimura's distinctive style and unabashed exploration of erotic themes earned him a cult following in his homeland and beyond. Shōgorō Nishimura was a maverick; his audacity to explore the unexplored in Japanese cinema painted him as a fearless artist, forever pushing the boundaries of the art form.
