Therese Shechter
Therese Shechter, the feminist voice of contemporary indie cinema, was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1961 and has been actively directing films since the early 2000s. Her work primarily explores the genres of documentary and comedy, with her most notable films including "How To Lose Your Virginity" (2013) and "I Was a Teenage Feminist" (2005). Although Shechter hasn't won awards at major film festivals, her distinctive authorial style, which combines humor, personal storytelling, and bold social commentary, has garnered significant acclaim within independent cinema circles. Shechter, with her compelling narratives and unflinching honesty, has an uncanny ability to challenge societal norms while making her audience laugh and think in equal measure.
