Yoshiji Kigami
A master of animation, Yoshiji Kigami was born in 1957 in Fukuchiyama, Kyoto, Japan, and was active in the film industry from 1979 until his untimely death in 2019. Renowned for his work in the anime genre, Kigami directed and animated some of the most acclaimed titles in the industry, most notably "Munto", "A Silent Voice", and "Violet Evergarden", which won the Grand Prize for animation at the Kyoto Animation Awards. His authorial style was characterized by intricate attention to detail, subtle storytelling, and an unmatched ability to capture human emotions in animated form. Despite the fame and success, Kigami remained a humble and dedicated artist who believed in the power of animation to touch hearts and inspire minds.
