When Bernadette was 17, her boyfriend, Brian Sugrim, told her that he had murdered someone…and she didn't believe him. Brian was intelligent, charming, and loving-a perfect boyfriend-and Bernadette wanted her "happily ever after." The two got married and started a family…but then Brian started to change. He became angry, abusive, and violent. But Bernadette didn't tell police her husband's secret. Then, after a decade of terrifying abuse, Brian came home one night and confessed to Bernadette that he had just murdered someone else. Only she still didn't go to the police.
